About CML

Cambridge Mechatronics Limited (CML) is a multi-disciplinary company, developing camera module solutions utilising our cutting-edge shape memory alloy (SMA) technology. Our technology is shipping in top tier flagship smartphones, as well as inside drones, wearable devices, and other consumer products.

We have approximately 700 granted and pending patents based around our platform technology, which allows the control, positioning and movement of smart materials with high precision. CML is proud to rank in the top 25 applicants in terms of yearly UK patent filings, on par with larger technology licensing companies such as Arm, Imagination Technologies and Rolls Royce.

CML’s SMA wire is thinner than the width of a human hair and can be positioned with the accuracy of the wavelength of light. CML is the only company in the world to master and control these materials with such exceptional accuracy.

The work environment at CML is stimulating and exciting, as we are involved throughout the entire product development process from inception through to mass production, which provides a real sense of achievement for our employees.

Role

As part of the rapidly growing Silicon Team, you will be responsible for verification and validation of new mixed signal microcontroller IC’s that drive the SMA wires, precisely controlling movement in a tightly closed loop system by orchestrating power delivery and resistance measurements for multiple wires simultaneously. This involves creation and execution of test cases in python on simulation and FPGA platforms pre-tapeout, on silicon post-tapeout, and ATPG for production test to achieve right-first-time designs. The role also encompasses some dev-ops aspects to grow and maintain the infrastructure required to build IC designs and automating tool flows.

A successful candidate will have a background in IC development, with very strong python and object-oriented software design skills in the field of automated test, a good knowledge of CI/CD concepts, and an eagerness to quickly find solutions to all manner of problems the team needs to solve.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of experience in IC verification (simulation and FPGA) and validation (silicon)
  • Strong knowledge of python and object-oriented software design
  • Strong automated test experience (functional, regression, reliability, performance)
  • Experience with System Verilog for IC/FPGA verification
  • Excellent unit test skills, and experience with python frameworks (pytest, unittest)
  • Good problem-solving skills, knowledge and use of bug tracking tools (YouTrack)
  • Good experience with industry standard CI/CD tools for IC development (Jenkins)
  • Good source code and package management skills (git, pypi)
  • Experience reporting KPI and code coverage metrics for IC verification and validation
  • Experience with using hardware test equipment such as oscilloscopes and bench supplies
  • Ability to work in a Linux development environment

Working Knowledge

  • Understanding of IC development processes and embedded electronics systems
  • Knowledge of chip internal structure (bus structures, CPU topology, registers, memory)
  • Cable driver and serial interface communications (I3C, I2C, USB, SPI)
  • Knowledge of System Verilog Assertions (SVA)
  • Embedded firmware development in C/C++

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in UVM
