The Role
CML is seeking an experienced Field Applications Engineering (FAE) Manager/Leader to lead customer technical engagement across the Greater China region. This role will manage regional FAE teams and serve as the primary technical interface between CML and key customers, including Tier 1 smartphone and consumer electronics OEMs and ODMs.
The FAE Manager will ensure successful design-in, integration, and ramp of CML’s SMA actuator systems and controller IC solutions within customer platforms. This role requires strong technical expertise, excellent customer-facing skills, and the ability to lead cross-regional engineering collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Technical Engagement
Serve as the primary technical liaison between CML and key customers in Greater China.
Support customer design-in activities for CML actuator systems and controller IC solutions.
Provide technical guidance on system integration, performance optimisation, and troubleshooting.
Translate customer requirements into actionable feedback for internal engineering teams.
FAE Team Leadership
Build, lead, and mentor a regional team of Field Applications Engineers.
Establish clear processes for customer support, escalation management, and technical documentation.
Develop the team’s technical capability across actuator systems, IC controllers, and algorithms.
Design-In & Product Adoption
Drive successful design wins and product adoption across smartphone and other emerging applications.
Work closely with customers during system architecture, development, and validation phases.
Support product qualification, testing, and production ramp activities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Partner closely with product management, R&D, systems engineering, and operations teams.
Provide customer insights to guide product roadmaps and feature prioritisation.
Support internal debugging and problem-solving efforts related to field issues.
Regional Business Support
Collaborate with regional sales teams to support strategic customer engagements.
Participate in technical presentations, workshops, and demonstrations.
Support pre-sales technical evaluations and proof-of-concept implementations.
Candidate Profile
Experience
Significant experience in Field Applications Engineering or Applications Engineering within the semiconductor or electromechanical systems industry.
Experience supporting Tier 1 smartphone or consumer electronics OEMs/ODMs in Greater China.
Experience in camera is ideal and an understanding of the complex supply chain.
Proven leadership experience managing FAE or applications teams.
Strong background in system-level integration involving ICs, actuators, sensors, or embedded systems.
Technical Expertise
Solid understanding of:
Mixed-signal or power management ICs
Electromechanical actuator systems or motor control
Embedded control systems and system integration
Ability to debug complex system-level issues across hardware, firmware, and mechanical components.
Regional & Customer Skills
Strong experience working with Chinese consumer electronics supply chains and development processes.
Excellent customer engagement and relationship management skills.
Ability to navigate fast-paced engineering programs with multiple stakeholders.
Languages
Fluent Mandarin Chinese and English required.
Education
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline.
