General Summary:

Qualcomm is looking for a Staff Product Manager - Software for Industrial and Embedded IoT Business Unit to help define and promote Qualcomm chipsets for emerging use cases in various IoT segments. Successful candidate will define software product requirements, analyze business opportunities, perform gap analysis, drive execution, and help with go-to-market plans and global customer engagements.

In addition, the candidate is expected to prioritize use cases while working closely with customers, engineering, sales, and business development teams.

Furthermore, the candidate will also function as a central resource with design, process, manufacturing, quality, test, marketing, and distribution as the product(s) and/or product line(s) move through their lifecycle.

Lastly, the successful candidate will formulate and execute long-term roadmaps for cost/profit control and promote use of new technologies and industry-leading trends.

The position requires strong expertise in business and systems analysis, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to collaborate and influence key stakeholders within Product Management team and across various functional teams.

Principal Requirements and Responsibilities :

  • Define and execute software roadmap for Android based SoCs
  • Reviews identified gaps in market based on complex analyses of overall ecosystem demands and makes portfolio decisions on how these gaps impact product roadmaps
  • Work closely with chipset product managers to gather detailed requirements for each chipset, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
  • Engage with Customers, ODMs and other stakeholders to gather feedback and identify critical needs that feeds as requirements to be supported on the Android SW roadmap
  • Develop in depth understanding of needs of the various IoT market segments and create Software Package (SP) definition and component sharing strategy to maximize SP and SW component reuse.
  • Create and maintain a detailed Software product roadmap that outlines key milestones, feature sets and timelines.
  • Provide Technical guidance on HW feature capability supported on IoT Chipset to customer and work closely with technical support teams to resolve problems efficiently and in timely manner.
  • Facilitate collaboration between software engineering teams, hardware teams, quality assurance, marketing, and sales to ensure aligned objectives and smooth execution.
  • Maintain transparent communication with all stakeholders, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and changes in plans.
  • Ensure comprehensive documentation of requirements, technical specifications, user guides, and release notes.
  • Prioritize features and enhancements based on market demands, customer feedback, technical feasibility, and strategic importance.
  • Work with engineering teams to allocate resources effectively, ensuring a balance between feature development, bug fixing, and technical debt reduction.
  • Explore opportunities to reduce the SW carrying cost (utilizing upstreaming strategy) and lowering upgrade cost (either SW design enhancements or outsourcing or mix of both).

This is an office based position in San Diego, CA.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Humanities, or related field.
• 5+ years of Product Management or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Solid Understanding of Android Product lifecycle, GMS, certifications
  • Deep understanding of Android software architecture
  • Advanced degree in engineering or computer science or MBA
  • 10+ years of Product Management experience managing complete cycle of products from concept to commercialization, defining product requirements document, change requests and prioritization of commercial feature requests.
  • Deep knowledge of internals of various Linux based operating systems and distributions like Android, Ubuntu, Debian, RTOS
  • Effective communication skills with cross functional teams, both technical and non-technical, within a fast-paced, collaborative, innovative environment, including experience in discussing complex ideas with partners, customers, and executives

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$179,200.00 - $268,800.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.
