This recasting of Wi-Fi networking solutions presents the opportunity to truly drive the transformation of how networks deploying Wi-Fi are designed, provisioned, and used. As a thought leader this is where you come in. In the role of Staff/Director of Product Management for Broadband Gateway Platforms for Qualcomm’s Wireless Infrastructure Networking (WIN) business you will drive our Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) strategy in support of these new market opportunities. In addition to working directly with the product management team in the US you will work closely with geographically dispersed engineering, marketing, and sales teams to ensure SoC product alignment with customer application, and commercial requirements.
Primary responsibilities include:
Defining and managing WIN’s broadband platform strategy and portfolio, with focus on Wi-Fi, PON and Ethernet chipsets.
Translating carrier CPE requirements into successful product plans and driving the execution of these plans.
Vigantly assessing and maintaining the profitability of the portfolio.
Visiting customers to identify market and technology trends in each region and clearly communicating this trends to all relevant stakeholders.
Partnering with software product managers to drive customer specific and market application requirements
Partnering with Hardware Systems engineering to drive platform RBOM optimization and RDP definition.
Collaboratively working with Product Engineering and Program Management to ensure committed projects achieve their KPIs and milestones.
Lead the creation of the chip, and reference design commercialization process with the core team.
Identification of opportunities for technology reuse, and architecture innovation that result in SoC optimizations that drive an efficient engineering execution strategy.
Managing the WIN product lifecycle from strategic planning to tactical activities.
Participate in developing key marketing messages around WIN’s Broadband Gateway platform solutions.
Maintaining subject matter expertise and internally/externally evangelizing technical trends that will have a material impact on the WIN business.
Delivering presentations at technical conferences and to customers.
This is a technical business professional role for a technically strong, experienced platform product manager with a proven history of delivering PON, and 802.11/802.3 networking products into enterprise, carrier, and retail markets. A minimum of 8+ years of broadband access gateway product management or product engineering experience with networking platforms. Product Management/Technical capabilities include:
Exceptional communication skills with an ability to quickly establish credibility and positive influence across a diverse array of technical teams in multiple geographies.
Experience with broadband access technologies that include Wi-Fi, Ethernet, PON, and 5G.
Experience working with TCP/UDP/IP/802.3/802.11x protocols.
Experience working with networking data path services including packet filtering, QoS, packet classification, DPI, security system, wireless IDS/IPS, traffic and application visibility, network instrumentation and telemetry.
Proven experience as a product manager, defining and prioritizing requirements and producing business cases leading to successful products/solutions.
Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field related to electrical engineering, systems engineering, software engineering, or similar field.
Master’s degree in a technical field is highly valued, as well as an MBA or equivalent business degree in addition to a strong technical background.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Humanities, or related field.
• 5+ years of Product Management or related work experience.
