General Summary:

In this position, you will be part of an industry-leading wireless research team at the forefront of developing next-generation wireless communication technologies. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled firmware engineer to join our team for implementing advanced wireless algorithms for baseband functionality on Qualcomm’s innovative SoC, DSP and compute platforms. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with cross-functional teams, including system architects and hardware engineers to bring innovative wireless solutions to life.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
5+ years of experience with computer architecture or embedded systems
Preferred Qualifications
Successful candidates have one or more of the following skills:
  • Proficiency in C/C++ programming and data structures with a strong understanding of software development practices
  • Experience with embedded software development, firmware development, real-time operating systems or multi-threaded software development
  • Understanding of performance optimization techniques, including memory management, parallel processing, and hardware acceleration
  • Exposure to and experience developing software for wireless standards (e.g., 5G, Wi-Fi, LTE)
  • Familiarity with computer networking concepts, including protocol stack layers and performance trade-offs in network design
  • Strong foundation in linear algebra, numerical methods, and signal processing
  • Background in algorithm development or system modeling
  • Experience with complex software debugging while collaborating with cross-functional teams
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and optimize software implementations of wireless communication algorithms on high-performance DSP platforms.
  • Collaborate with system and hardware teams to translate theoretical models into efficient, real-time implementations.
  • Analyze and optimize system performance, balancing computational efficiency with stringent latency, throughput, and power requirements.
  • Investigate and implement multi-core, multi-threaded, and multi-processor solutions to maximize parallelism and performance.
  • Conduct performance profiling, debugging, and tuning to ensure robust and scalable software delivery.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and contribute to the evolution of wireless system architectures

Pay range and Other Compensation & Benefits:

$148,300.00 - $222,500.00

The above pay scale reflects the broad, minimum to maximum, pay scale for this job code for the location for which it has been posted. Even more importantly, please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Qualcomm.
