General Summary:

The Qualcomm CPU team develops high performance Arm based cores for a variety of applications. Within the CPU group, the Software Enablement team develops solutions to support CPU development both in pre- and post-silicon stages.

The Software Enablement team is looking for motivated individuals to intern in the team to develop tools and software (firmware and Linux kernel) for application processors. As part of the team, you'll be working on software and tooling to enable power and performance characterisation of the next generation of custom CPUs. You'll have the opportunity to engage with a broad range of hardware and software development teams to ensure leading performance, efficiency and security of the CPUs across the development life cycle.

The internship for up to a period of 6 months and can start as early as Jan 2026.

Potential projects

  • Enable alternate debug mechanisms for early-stage platforms
  • Investigate software performance bottlenecks
  • Prototype solutions for new architectures and features

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrolled in master's or PhD program in Electrical or Computer Engineering

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework in the following areas - Computer architecture, Embedded Systems, Operating Systems
  • Experience tinkering with low-level systems software such as Linux kernel, QEMU, U-Boot, EDK2, compilers, etc.
  • Proficient in C and comfortable developing in python
  • Familiar with git and common development practice (coding style, review, etc.)
  • Self-starter and motivated to learn
