The Qualcomm Automotive Team is seeking a functional safety software architect to contribute to the development of next-generation automotive solutions.
Qualcomm Automotive platform team is engaged in offering optimized solutions for the Qualcomm Automotive SoCs. We are seeking engineers with experience in system and SoC SW level functional safety concepts. The job requires understanding and defining of the Safety Concept and Architecture, Software Safety requirements, defining and deploying safety processes and development of Safety software by following the ISO26262 software processes. Interaction with customers, architects and test/integration teams are required as part of the job. The job also involves working with the Software quality team for adherence of ISO26262 and ASPICE processes.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Lead functional safety initiatives for complex SoC software
- Collaborate with development teams, partners, and customers on functional safety tasks
- Engage in external/customer safety discussions, audits, and support corrective actions
- Maintain expertise in automotive functional safety practices and drive timely gap closure
- Enhance software processes and outputs to meet safety standards
- Manage functional safety and architecture frameworks in automotive contexts
- Define safety software architecture and requirements
- Develop and implement robust safety plans
- Ensure strict adherence to ISO26262 and ASPICE standards
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5 – 10 years of industry experience in embedded software, especially in the automotive domain
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in ISO26262 (Part 6 in specific)
- Experience in functional safety software architecture in Automotive Domain: Safety software architecture specification, Safety Requirements definition, safety software development
- Good understanding of functional safety software process, especially ISO26262 part-6
- Experience in Safety Analysis (FMEA, DFA, FTA)
- Experience in defining Software architecture, Software Design, and implementation of Embedded software for Automotive SoCs
- Good understanding of SoC architecture, ARM architecture, SoC Peripherals, low level BSP Software/drivers, RTOS
- Experience with tools for static analysis, code coverage
- Knowledge and experience of ASPICE /ISO26262 or equivalent Quality standards
- Knowledge of various tools and methods related for functional safety/ISO26262 (Requirements Management, Static/dynamic analysis, Safety Analysis, Safety software design, implementation, and testing)
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with ASPICE or comparable quality standards.
- Relevant training or certifications in functional safety.
- Proven ability to support customers and OEMs with functional safety and system safety concepts.
- Experience conducting functional safety audits.
- In-depth expertise in at least one technological domain (e.g., Linux, Android, QNX, Multimedia, Security, Virtualization, Performance, Stability, Machine Learning, etc.).
- Self-motivated and adept at bridging software, hardware, systems, and commercialization disciplines.
- Strong commitment to driving highly successful project outcomes.
- Familiarity with China's functional safety standard GB/T 34590.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
• 4+ years of work experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
