Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.

Staff Hardware Design Engineer responsible to design and deliver high quality boards for Automotive post silicon validation and customer reference platforms.

Experience and expertise:

In this role, you will contribute towards design of post silicon validation boards as well as customer reference platforms for Qualcomm’s Automotive SOCs. The role will involve hands-on HW architecture definition, schematics capture, providing CAD inputs and layout reviews, vendor interaction, BOM management, Board Bring up & validation and supporting internal and external customers.

This role demands strong technical expertise to work independently and guide junior engineers as applicable, in all stages from requirements gathering and concept development, to production qualification and support.

This role requires working closely with cross functional teams including CAD, Mechanical, Packaging, SI-PI, Manufacturing, component Engineering, procurement, product marketing, Silicon validation, Software & Customer Engineering teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

·10+ years of experience in System Architecture, High-speed Hardware Board Design.

· Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering

· Supervisory or Managerial experience would be a plus

Preferred Experience/Qualifications:

· Highly skilled hands-on Engineer with minimum 10 years’ experience in the High-speed digital board design, high speed DRAM interfacing, power circuitry design with LDO, buck/boost regulators, non-volatile memory, processor/SOC based design, bring-up and debug skills.

· Hands-on experience EDA tools for schematic capture (Dx Designer preferred) and layout review, signal integrity etc. is required.

· Project level leadership experience is a must. Managerial experience is a plus.

· Expertise in full development life cycle (Requirements to Production Qualification and Support) and configuration management for managing associated documentation (BOMs, schematics, drawings etc.)

· Expertise in handling Lab equipment and test & measurement tools like oscilloscopes, multi-meters, signal generators, logic analyzers, protocol analyzers, spectrum analyzers etc.

· Experience with FPGA/CPLD RTL design is desirable.

· Board design experience with high speed interfaces such as PCIE Gen5, USXGMII, UFS, USB 3.2/ USB4, is desired.

· Technical expertise with DDR memory like DDR3, DDR4, DDR5, LPDDR4, LPDDR5 etc. and non-volatile memory like UFS, eMMC, SD Card etc.

· Experience in designing hardware for semiconductor testing is desired.

· Familiarity with typical data and control interfaces (Examples include UART, USB, SPI, I2C etc.) is desired.

· Signal integrity simulation expertise is a plus.

· Must be self-driven and have good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a multi-disciplined team and across sites.

· Good presentation skills required.

Key Responsibilities:

· Design of High-Speed board designs involving high speeds peripherals like PCIE Gen 5, USB3.2/USB4, USXGMII etc and memory interfaces like LPDDR5, UFS etc

· Publishing design specifications (i.e. Requirements, Architectural, Functional, Test, etc), test plans.

· Schematics drafting, Interfacing with Mechanical engineers for system level design and collaborating with CAD team in providing interface-wise design constraints and Layout reviews etc.

· Conducting Design reviews from concept phase to design release.

· Running Power integrity and Signal integrity simulations as required. Collaborating with SIPI teams for final signoffs.

· Interface with component engineering, vendors and manufacturing teams

· Releasing BOMs and detailed user guide with documentation control

· Support validation and SW teams during bring-up tests and debugging system level issues.

· Performing detailed DVT and publishing DVT reports

· Platform sustenance and support with internal and external customers

· Supporting debugs on failures seen in customer designs
