General Summary:

Join a high-impact Customer Engineering(CE) team enabling next-generation server processor platforms for one of the world’s leading semiconductor innovators. As a Customer Engineer, you will serve as a technical interface between strategic customers—including hyperscalers, OEMs, and ODMs—and internal product teams, helping to launch and sustain industry-leading server SoCs.

This role is ideal for a seasoned technical expert and communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. You will drive customer adoption from concept to commercialization and mass production, representing the voice of the customer internally while delivering best-in-class technical support externally.

You will be one of the founding members of a to-be-hired server CE team and will help shape the team’s future structure and priorities. In this role, you will lead firmware customization and address challenging issues and work closely with both internal teams (software, hardware, validation, security) and external collaborators (such as OEMs and ODMs), often leading pivotal firmware projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customize firmware to support unique hardware configurations, board-specific features, and custom boot flows for ARM servers
  • Collaborate with hardware teams for board bring-up and validating new platforms
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software, target and test teams, to ensure complete understanding of the solution and maturity
  • Collaborate closely with internal engineering, software, validation, and product teams to address technical challenges and customer feedback
  • Identify gaps in customer and internal design expectations and propose practical solutions or mitigations
  • Partner closely with OEMs/ODMs, review and verify BIOS code from OEMs/ODMs
  • Support manufacturing and platform validation processes
  • Support power management and performance tuning
  • Deliver high-quality technical documentation, training, and onboarding material for customer enablement
  • Drive continuous improvement of support processes and infrastructure to scale across customer engagements

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in applications engineering, customer-facing technical roles with strong experience in Firmware development / customization
  • Proficiency in C programming and assembly (x86 or ARM).
  • Familiarity with BMC/IPMI, and remote management protocols.
  • Experience with hyperscaler firmware requirements.
  • Experience with open-source contributions for example in EDK II, Coreboot etc would be valuable.
  • Hands-on experience with the UEFI specification and its modular architecture.
  • Development and debugging of UEFI drivers and applications.
  • Understanding of UEFI Secure Boot, capsule updates, and runtime services.
  • Familiarity with ARM Architecture and ARM server extensions.
  • Knowledge of memory management, exception levels, and privilege modes.
  • Experience with ARM Trusted Firmware and secure boot mechanisms.
  • Experience with device initialization, peripheral drivers, and board bring-up.
  • Knowledge of hardware interfaces (I2C, SPI, UART, PCIe, USB, etc.).
  • Ability to analyze crash logs, memory dumps, and trace data to isolate issues.
  • Deep proficiency in Linux kernels, DDR, PCIe, and communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and MDIO
  • Strong technical documentation skills and excellent written and verbal communication

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience in applications engineering, customer-facing technical roles
  • Understanding of operating system boot loaders, kernel initialization, and handoff processes.
  • Experience with Linux, especially in ARM server environments.
  • Knowledge of ACPI, SMBIOS, and other system description tables.
  • Familiarity with secure boot, cryptographic libraries, and Trusted Platform Module (TPM).
  • Experience mitigating security vulnerabilities (CVE) in firmware.
  • Understanding of threat modeling and secure coding practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence internal teams and manage customer engagements with high autonomy
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for complex system-level issues.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical documentation and specifications.
  • Resourcefulness in researching new ARM/UEFI developments and solutions.
  • Experience with multi-socket and virtualization firmware hooks would be highly recommended.

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 4+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 3+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.

• 2+ years of experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
• 1+ year of experience with debugging techniques.
