This challenging position offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge sensor technologies embedded in smartphones, automotive systems, IoT devices, XR/AR devices, smartwatches, and other consumer electronics.
Job activities span the entire product life cycle, from early R&D to commercial deployment. Software development opportunities are versatile, covering Android application development, scripting, tool development, and contributions to data processing pipelines, while also offering opportunities for hands-on field work.
The successful candidate will collaborate with systems, software, and integration/test engineers in the QCT Sensors group.
Job responsibilities include:
- Designing, developing and testing Android applications
- Architecting, coding and testing tools with UI & compatible with Windows and Linux platforms, using popular languages like Java, Kotlin, Python, .net, C#
- Building Java software components that follow industry-standard design patterns, development methodologies and deployment models
- Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to support development and commercialization of sensor algorithms and features.
- Development on prototypes reference platforms that cover mobile devices, watches, wearables, etc.
- Contribute to the design of comprehensive end-to-end ETL data processing pipelines: ingestion, transformation, and delivery to Data Lake.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize data workflows in production.
- Support data collection campaigns within Qualcomm employees in China and participate to the actual field data collection campaigns.
- Creation, validation, maintenance, and documentation of “training, validation and test data sets” for algorithm and feature development. This includes validating existing data sets, re-purposing them with new modalities and/or creating new data sets via field and lab collects using mobile form factor devices.
- Supporting bench marking of features across device types
- Sensor feature commercialization support in form factor devices including algorithm performance validation, customer data wrangling and direct customer triage support.
The position is technology focused and involves participation in a broad range of sensors systems engineering activities within the Sensors Technologies group.
The role contains occasional travel, physical/sports activities, and handling of objects with significant weight.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering/Science, or related field
2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in electrical engineering, SW engineering, Computer Engineering/Science, or related field
2+ years of experience in the following areas:
- Experience with Android SDK, preferably using Android Studio (but not limited to).
- Strong object-oriented programming skills in Java or Kotlin.
- Proficiency in developing system applications and tools in C++ and Python, for both internal and customer-facing use.
- Previous experience with MATLAB is highly beneficial.
- Fluency with Git and GitHub.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience developing desktop applications with GUI.
- Ability to work in a multi-OS environment, including Linux and Windows.
- Knowledge of digital signal processing, probability, statistics, and machine learning.
- Understanding of MEMS and inertial, environmental, and physiological sensors.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with strong written and verbal English proficiency.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong analytical skills and the ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced global team environment.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s or master’s in electrical or computer engineering or equivalent.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Systems Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
