General Summary:
Background
Unit testing is an important activity in large-scale software development, and using state-of-the-art frameworks and tools is required to gain efficiency. We have legacy unit tests in an older framework, but new unit tests are written in Google Test and we do not want to maintain both frameworks.
Purpose
This summer internship assignment is about converting legacy unit tests into Google Test. The students will get hands-on experience with modern testing frameworks and legacy codebases, helping us with both short-term and long-term improvements. If time allows, there might also be tasks around static code analysis, compliance with coding guidelines, and development and use of simple tools in Python.
Student background
University students (preferably 3rd to 5th year) in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent with the experience below:
- Proficiency in C++
- Courses in Software Engineering and - preferably - Software Testing
- Experience in C, Python, Git and Google Test is an advantage
