General Summary:

A Program Manager in Modem Software team would be responsible for end to end program management including (but not limited to) driving planning & managing development and delivery of software that span across multiple modem technology areas shipping as part of Qualcomm Snapdragon chips for IOT, WBC, Wear and Handset programs

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive schedule, cost, resources, analysis and planning including interdependencies with constraints and optimization across multiple tech teams and customer connect

  • Collaborate with other impacting technology within/outside Modem

  • Establish clear Plan of Record commitment and drive prioritization

  • Strong (technical) understanding of SW deliverables and risk management / risk mitigation

  • Develop program indicators to manage program health including quality and timelines

  • Establish rigorous execution discipline & communications process: risk management, mitigation, tracking, schedule trends vs baseline, recovery actions, executive reporting & stakeholder communications

  • Partner with other functional areas to establish critical processes to support disciplined product development and decision making and to ensure quality (coordination across multiple development sites may be required)

  • Develop and establish strong processes that streamline the development cycle and help integrate multiple plans, dependencies and deliverables effectively

Desired Experience:

  • 8-10 Years of experience & domain knowledge of Wireless Communication / Telecommunication Product Development / Protocol Stacks

    • Of which 2+ Years of experience in a Project/Program/Engineering Management

Educational Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelor of Engineering/Technology in Computer Science / Electronics (or Electrical) & Communication

  • Preferred: Master of Engineering/Technology in Computer Science / Electronics (or Electrical) & Communication AND / OR Master of Business Administration after B.Tech

Additional Requirements:

  • Skills:

    • Project Management

    • Excellent Communication

    • Experience with reporting and presentation tools - MS Project, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, Tableau, JIRA (or similar Bug / Issue trackers), Resource / Task trackers

    • Strong hands-on skills on AI tools like Copilot; knowledge of ML models

    • Experience of working in a large matrixed organization in role requiring interaction with senior leadership

    • Work experience in operating budgets, resources, and/or project financials

  • Certifications (preferred):

    • PMP certification and/or Scrum master certification

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 2+ years of Program Management or related work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 5+ years of Program Management or related work experience.

• 1+ year of experience working in a large matrixed organization.

• 1+ year of experience with program management tools such as dashboards, Gantt charts, etc.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Supports the establishment of program goals and prioritizes deliverables under minimal supervision of Program Management stakeholders.
• Manages and takes responsibility for multiple small programs/technology with minimal complexity or a single program/technology with moderate complexity by applying up-to-date program management knowledge to meet deadlines.
• Builds and manages the execution of the Plan of Record (e.g., on time, on budget, within scope) for multiple small programs or a single medium sized program, which includes schedule and resource forecasting, stakeholder identification, method and frequency of communication, scope, and prioritization.
• Tracks all key metrics pertaining to a program, provides early warning for potential metric deviations and escalates in timely manner when metrics deviate significantly from Plan of Record.
• Coordinates the work of a small team on assigned tasks with guidance and maintains progress in tracking system.
• Identifies program issues/risks and creates a risk mitigation plan for multiple small programs or a single medium-sized program. Maintains and updates the risk tracker.
• Supports team vision and objectives by motivating team.
• ​Supports the compliance of processes by following best practices and procedures and providing observations for process improvement.

Level of Responsibility:
• Working under some supervision.
• Making decisions that are low to moderate in impact; errors may have relatively minor financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships; errors may require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct.
• Using verbal and written communication skills to convey information that may be somewhat complex to others who may have limited knowledge of the subject in question. May require basic negotiation and influence, cooperation, tact, and diplomacy, etc.
• Completing tasks with multiple steps that can be performed in various orders; some planning and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively; mistakes may result in some rework.
• Exercising creativity to draft original documents, imagery, or work products within established guidelines.
• Using deductive and inductive problem solving; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; often information is missing or incomplete; intermediate data analysis/interpretation skills may be required.

The responsibilities of this role do not include:
• Financial accountability (e.g., does not involve budgeting responsibility).
• Influence over key organizational decisions.
• Role in strategic planning.
