As a Qualcomm Hardware Engineer, you will plan, design, optimize, verify, and test electronic systems, bring-up yield, circuits, mechanical systems, Digital/Analog/RF/optical systems, equipment and packaging, test systems, FPGA, and/or DSP systems that launch cutting-edge, world class products. Qualcomm Hardware Engineers collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop solutions and meet performance requirements.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field and 1+ year of Hardware Engineering or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Engineering, or related field.
The successful candidate will operate as a member of the CHS Component Engineering team. Responsibilities include BOM Optimization, reviewing third party component datasheets for accuracy, working with suppliers to find alternate and low-cost component solutions, working with suppliers to develop custom interface solutions, and IC solutions. Daily responsibilities include working with the Electrical Engineering teams, Component Suppliers, IT, Sourcing, and coordinating a Global network of 3rd Party component activities across Qualcomm’s Global Engineer Community.
- Responsible for responding to BOM Optimization requirements.
- Obtain and Review component datasheets for accuracy, completeness and best in class alignment with Qualcomm Platform Requirements.
- Create Material Control Numbers (MCNs) for electrical components for Qualcomm’s component database.
- Validate requests to make changes to existing MCNs.
- Communicate and interact with Component Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs, suppliers) to develop Custom Device Component Solutions, as Qualcomm is always creating New and Different, requiring New and Different XR/AI component solutions.
- Communicate and interact with Component Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs, suppliers) for samples and additional information not provided within OTS (Off the Shelf) datasheets.
- Interact with Component Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, CAD Engineers, PdMs, PgMs, OEMs, Sourcing, Manufacturing, Planning, Support Engineering.
- Work with hardware development and test teams to guide component selection, optimization, and drive supplier’s custom development aligned with application, function, cost, and schedule.
- Work with hardware designers to comprehend new product needs, perform industry component searches and if required create mini specifications based on unique requirements. Work with the design team and the suppliers to evaluate, iterate and integrate new products into platform designs.
- Quickly assimilate into existing projects and work with internal customers to support fast-moving design schedules.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to communicate clearly, organize effectively and work with cross functional teams across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Strong multi-discipline engineering, technical, analytical skills.
- Understanding of Electrical Engineering concepts and solutions.
- BSEE with Electrical or Component Engineering experience.
- 2+ years Component Engineering.
- Familiar with COTS Component Interfaces.
- Proficient with all MS Office 365 Tools.
- Understanding of how to use AI Chatbots and AI Agents to efficiently solve problems.
