General Summary:

The Staff Sourcing Specialist will support the Qualcomm Global Sourcing team by leading electronic component sourcing activities and developing sourcing strategies aligned with evolving Bills of Materials (BoMs). This role requires deep knowledge of electronic components, strong market and pricing expertise, and the ability to influence system-level BoM cost, alternate component selection, and long-term sourcing strategy.

This role plays a key part in ensuring supply continuity, cost competitiveness, and effective sourcing execution across global programs. The ideal candidate will bring extensive sourcing experience and demonstrate the ability to operate as a senior individual contributor, with proven experience in:

  • Driving BoM cost reduction

  • Managing pricing for complex and evolving BoMs

  • Identifying and qualifying alternate components and new suppliers

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute global sourcing strategies for electronic components across NPI and sustaining programs.

  • Drive BoM cost optimization initiatives, including pricing analysis, cost benchmarking, and supplier negotiations.

  • Manage pricing for evolving BoMs, supporting design changes, lifecycle transitions, and volume ramps.

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers to strengthen global supply resilience and cost competitiveness.

  • Recommend and support qualification of alternate components in close collaboration with engineering teams.

  • Apply deep component and market knowledge to influence system-level BoM decisions and sourcing direction.

  • Partner with global engineering, program management, planning, and operations teams to align sourcing strategies with technical and business requirements.

  • Prepare and align forecasts with suppliers, monitoring capacity, lead times, and supply risk.

  • Support complex commercial negotiations, including pricing agreements and long-term supply arrangements.

  • Monitor supplier performance through KPIs and support corrective and improvement actions as needed.

  • Independently manage multiple sourcing priorities and deliverables in a fast-paced, matrixed global environment.

Level of Responsibility

  • Operate as a senior individual contributor within the Global Sourcing organization.

  • Collaborate closely with global sourcing peers and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Take full ownership and accountability for assigned sourcing strategies, analyses, and execution.

  • Influence decisions and outcomes without direct authority through expertise and data-driven recommendations.

  • Apply advanced problem-solving skills and market insight to address complex sourcing challenges.

  • Work with minimal supervision while managing ambiguity and changing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in electronic component sourcing, supply management, or procurement.

  • Strong familiarity with a broad range of electronic components and global supplier ecosystems, including ICs, passives, power components, and other critical electronic parts.

  • System-level sourcing experience from OEM, ODM, or EMS environments, or relevant sourcing or supply management experience from IC design companies, with familiarity in server, networking, or data center-related products.

  • Fluent English communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a global, cross-functional environment.

  • Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field (advanced degree a plus).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of Sourcing or related work experience.
OR
Associate's degree and 6+ years of Sourcing or related work experience.
OR
High School Diploma or equivalent and 8+ years of Sourcing or related work experience.

*Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience.
