General Summary:

As a Qualcomm Software Application Engineer, you will provide technical expertise of software systems through technical presentations in support of business development, product demonstrations, design and development of customer specific requirements, commercialization, and maintenance of Qualcomm products. Qualcomm Engineers collaborate with cross-functional teams and customers to address questions, issues, debugging, or troubleshooting regarding software systems and applications.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 8+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 7+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 6+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
• 4+ years of experience with Programming Language such as C, C++, Java, Python, etc.
• 4+ years of experience with debugging techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's Degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
• 15+ years of Software Applications Engineering, Software Development experience, or related work experience.
• 3+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with executive leadership (e.g., Vice President and above).
• 2+ years of working with operating budgets and/or project financials.
• Experience in a customer-facing role.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Leverages expert Software Application knowledge and critical technical expertise of software systems to direct and implement technical presentations in support of business development, customer training, product demonstrations, commercialization, customization, and maintenance of Qualcomm products.
• Collaborates with high-level stakeholders across functions to determine strategies for addressing the needs of high-stakes customers and to prioritize and allocate work resources for debugging critical issues in customer software systems.
• Influences and communicates guidelines for system architecture and feature-specific customizations tailored for customer requirements from proof of concept to final product commercial launches.
• Directs and leads teams on assessing potential application of company products, preparing product specifications, disseminating technical information on specific software areas, and/or troubleshooting issues regarding software tools and products.
• Communicates guidelines across teams for writing and reviewing product technical documentation, application notes, and FAQs; writes and reviews technical documentation for highly complex projects.
Level of Responsibility:
• Provides supervision to other supervisors/managers who are direct reports.
• Decision-making is critical in nature and highly impacts program, product, or project success.
• Requires verbal and written communication skills to convey highly complex and/or detailed information. May require strong negotiation and influence with large groups or high-level constituents.
• Works within the prescribed budgetary objectives of the department.
• Has influence over the formulation and achievement of long-term business plans and objectives.
• Tasks often require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; extensive planning, problem-solving, and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.
