General Summary:

The Instructional Designer will design, develop, and continuously enhance innovative learning experiences that equip Qualcomm’s global workforce with the skills needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving, AIdriven environment. This role blends strong instructional design capabilities with modern learning technologies, AIenabled tools, and datadriven insights. The ideal candidate is a creative systemsthinker who can translate complex technical concepts into accessible, engaging learning solutions while thriving in a fastpaced, highly collaborative environment.

This role requires full-time onsite work in Mexico City (5 days per week).

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of Employee Development, Talent Development, Human Resources, or related work experience.
OR
Associate's degree and 7+ years of Employee Development, Talent Development, Human Resources, or related work experience.
OR
High School Diploma or equivalent and 9+ years of Employee Development, Talent Development, Human Resources, or related work experience.

*Completed advanced degrees in a relevant field may be substituted for up to two years (Master’s = one year, Doctorate = two years) of work experience.

Key Responsibilities

Learning Design & Development

  • Design and develop highquality instructional content across multimedia and digital formats, including elearning, videos, simulations, microlearning, workflows, and XRenhanced experiences.

  • Apply instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning principles to ensure solutions are effective, scalable, accessible, and globally relevant.

  • Build storyboards, prototypes, scripts, learning assessments, and facilitator/learner materials.

  • Ensure deliverables are high quality, aligned to learning objectives, and optimized for global audiences.

AIEnabled Innovation

  • Use AI tools (generative AI, adaptive learning platforms, automation tools, agents) to enhance content development, create personalized learning experiences, and streamline workflows.

  • Craft effective prompts to guide AI models in generating accurate, instructionally aligned content.

  • Uphold responsible AI practices, ensuring data privacy, fairness, and ethical use in all learning solutions.

DataDriven Improvement

  • Analyze learner data, engagement metrics, and feedback to refine content and strengthen learning outcomes.

  • Build datainformed recommendations to enhance program effectiveness and report on impact.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with SMEs, HR partners, and crossfunctional collaborators to uncover learning needs and accurately translate content into highimpact learning.

  • Facilitate content reviews, gather input, incorporate revisions, and maintain strong relationships with partners and stakeholders.

Project & Process Execution

  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, from scoping through deployment, while ensuring excellent communication, quality, and ontime delivery.

  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, scalability, and content quality.

  • Represent instructional design perspectives in meetings, working sessions, and design reviews.

1. AI Literacy for Learning

Ability to use AI tools (generative AI, adaptive learning platforms, agents) to create, enhance, and personalize instructional materials. Includes using AI to speed content creation while maintaining Qualcomm’s innovation and quality standards.

2. DataDriven Design Thinking

Skill in interpreting learner analytics, performance data, and engagement patterns to shape design decisions, optimize experiences, and demonstrate program impact.

3. Prompt Engineering & AI Collaboration

Ability to craft precise, effective prompts that guide AI tools to produce accurate and instructionally sound outputs—storyboards, scripts, assessments, examples, summaries, etc.

4. Ethical & Responsible AI Use

Understanding of responsible AI principles, data privacy, and bias mitigation to ensure learning solutions meet Qualcomm’s global compliance requirements.

5. Instructional Design Expertise (ADDIE, SAM, Adult Learning)

Strong grasp of learning needs analysis, storyboarding, prototyping, content development, and evaluation. Ability to design solutions aligned with ADDIE and Qualcomm’s design process.

6. Agile Development Mindset

Comfort working in iterative development cycles, rapidly building and refining learning materials, and adapting to shifting requirements and technical priorities.

7. Technology Integration & Multimedia Development

Proficiency with elearning authoring tools (Articulate), LMS platforms, multimedia creation (video, motion graphics, infographics), and emerging formats such as XR or adaptive learning.

8. Collaboration & Communication with SMEs

Ability to partner with SMEs and crossfunctional stakeholders to translate complex concepts into accessible, learnercentered content.

9. Content Innovation & Creative Learning Experience Design

Creativity in designing interactive, engaging learning experiences including gamification, simulations, microlearning, and multimediarich content.

10. Continuous Professional Growth

Demonstrated commitment to learning emerging technologies, staying uptodate on AI trends and new design methodologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience in instructional design, learning experience design, or related fields.

  • Demonstrated ability to apply AI tools and data analytics to learning design.

  • Strong proficiency with elearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Rise), LMS platforms, and multimedia creation tools.

  • Mastery of instructional design models and adult learning methodologies.

  • Experience working with subject matter experts to translate complex content.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver highquality work in a dynamic environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, Education, or a related field.

  • Experience creating adaptive learning pathways, simulations, or AIenhanced learning tools.

  • Familiarity with XR, gamified learning, or advanced multimedia design.

  • Experience in a technologydriven environment or designing training for engineering or technical audiences.

  • Background with AIenabled learning platforms and automation workflows.

Work Environment

This is an individual contributor role within the Talent Development organization. The Instructional Designer will collaborate closely with HR partners, crossfunctional learning teams, and the Qualcomm learning ecosystem to create innovative, futureready learning experiences aligned to strategic business priorities.
