The era of pervasive AI has arrived. In this era, organizations will use generative AI to unlock hidden value in their data, accelerate processes, reduce costs, drive efficiency and innovation to fundamentally transform their businesses and operations at scale.
SambaNova Suite™ is the first full-stack, generative AI platform, from chip to model, optimized for enterprise and government organizations. Powered by the intelligent SN40L chip, the SambaNova Suite is a fully integrated platform, delivered on-premises or in the cloud, combined with state-of-the-art open-source models that can be easily and securely fine-tuned using customer data for greater accuracy. Once adapted with customer data, customers retain model ownership in perpetuity, so they can turn generative AI into one of their most valuable assets.
About the Role
At SambaNova Systems, getting a product from breakthrough concept to high-volume production is a mission-critical endeavor—and the Senior NPI Engineer is at the center of it. You will own the full product-realization journey: bridging design, supply chain, and contract manufacturing to ensure our next-generation AI server systems are built right, built reliably, and built at scale.
This role is ideal for a hands-on systems thinker who is equally comfortable on the factory floor and in a design review. You will work across electrical, mechanical, firmware, and supply chain teams—driving DFx influence early, solving hard manufacturing problems fast, and building the infrastructure that makes high-quality production repeatable. If you love the challenge of turning complex hardware into a scalable product, this is the role for you.
What You’ll Do
Manufacturing & Quality Leadership
- Serve as the primary technical interface with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) and suppliers, owning the relationship from NPI through production.
- Drive rapid prioritization and resolution of manufacturing issues, field failures, and quality escapes.
Design for Manufacturability (DFx)
- Engage early in the design cycle to assess new technologies and components for manufacturability risk.
- Ensure factory readiness through proper equipment qualification, process development, and closed-loop feedback from the production floor.
- Champion continuous improvement in yield and manufacturability across product generations.
Product Readiness & Production Execution
- Own factory readiness and production build execution at global CM sites.
- Lead product bring-up support and provide hands-on training to CM teams.
- Drive escalations, remote troubleshooting, and onsite support as production demands require.
Test Strategy & Reliability
- Partner with Systems Engineering to define and validate manufacturing test coverage.
- Develop data strategies to monitor capacity, yield, and quality trends across production.
- Execute reliability testing required for product release milestones.
Supply Chain Optimization
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cycle time, lower cost, and minimize yield loss.
- Manage supplier PCNs proactively to prevent disruption to production schedules.
Sustaining Engineering
- Own BOM accuracy and manage ECOs/MCOs across both NPI and production phases.
- Ensure manufacturing documentation stays current and aligned with live builds.
Field Issue Resolution & Change Qualification
- Collaborate with customer service and support teams to investigate and resolve field quality and performance issues.
- Qualify alternate components, new processes, and EOL replacements—including first article inspections to validate accuracy and quality.
What You’ll Bring
Required
- B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in NPI, manufacturing engineering, or hardware development.
- Proven track record taking products from prototype through high-volume manufacturing.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across hardware, test, platform, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
- Expertise in PCB design considerations for DFM, DFT, and DFA.
- Experience performing hardware failure analysis and driving root cause and corrective action (RCCA).
- Familiarity with manufacturing test development, yield analysis, and reliability validation.
- Experience working with PLM systems such as Oracle Fusion Cloud.
Preferred
- M.S. in Electrical Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience building supply chains, manufacturing processes, and test infrastructure for server or storage products in the IT industry.
- Experience in data analytics and quality data systems.
- Hands-on experience with manufacturing automation.
- Experience leveraging AI/GenAI tools to improve process efficiency and effectiveness.
- Background developing manufacturing test systems, setting test limits, and ensuring end-to-end test coverage.
